The Komplete Kontrol A-Series has been designed with the modern music maker in mind, delivering features that enhance the entire process of creating music “in the box”. With a Komplete Kontrol A-Series keyboard in your setup, you can spend less time staring at your computer screen and focus on your creativity. Every version is USB 2.0 bus-powered so all you have to do is plug your A-Series MIDI controller into your computer and start playing.

Custom Designed Keybed
No matter how many bells or whistles a USB MIDI keyboard might sport, the most important element is the keys themselves. That’s why Native Instruments have equipped each A-Series with their custom semi-weighted keybed. This highly responsive and velocity-sensitive keybed offers an inviting amount of resistance and feels superb. Whether you’re playing lightning-fast synth runs, emotional acoustic piano chords or bombastic drum beats, we’re sure you’ll love the response of this semi-weighted custom keybed. Rugged and ergonomic pitch and mod wheels are positioned to the left side of the keyboard, allowing you to add bends and modulation on the fly. An expression or sustain pedal can be hooked up to the assignable TRS pedal input for hands-free control.
Komplete Kontrol
What sets the Native Instruments A-Series MIDI keyboard models from the pack is the seamless integration with the Komplete Kontrol and Maschine software. Komplete Kontrol is a host for your NKS-compatible instrument and effect plugins that can run either standalone for live performance or as a VST, AU or AAX plugin within your DAW. This fantastic software makes finding the perfect sound for your track fast and easy. If you’re looking for a synth pad, for example, Komplete Kontrol can be used to browse through every pad preset in all of your NKS-friendly virtual instruments. Simply press the dedicated Browse button to pull up the KK browser and use the quad-directional push encoder to choose a preset. All this can be done with one hand and without looking at your computer screen!
A Range Of Sizes
Native Instruments present the A-Series keyboards in a variety of sizes, including 25, 49 and 61 key versions, so you can choose the perfect one for your setup and style. Producers on the go will adore the lightweight, backpack-friendly form factor of the 25-key version, whilst the extended range of the 49 and 61 key models will suit keyboardists and pianists who want a more authentic playing experience.
Smart Play
Every Komplete Kontrol A-Series MIDI keyboard is compatible with Smart Play. This incredibly intuitive feature is designed to enhance your creativity, especially if you’re new to music theory. With Smart Play engaged, all the keys in your chosen scale are mapped across the keyboard. This is great for composing melodies, as every note will be in the right key. Easy Mode is particularly handy if you’re a beginner, as it maps the white keys to your scale of choice. When it's time to add some harmony, you can activate chord mode to create a progression by playing single keys.
Flagship Features
Whilst the A-Series is a much more affordable entry point into the NI ecosystem than the premium S-Series, the A-Series shares key features and the impressive build quality of the flagship range. The tactile 4D encoder which handles navigation, the eight touch-sensitive knobs and backlit buttons have been directly inherited from the S-Series.
Digital Instruments, Hardware Control
Once you’ve picked a preset, the eight touch-sensitive knobs will automatically map themselves to the most useful controls such as the filter cutoff or envelope so you can start tweaking straight away. Touching one of the knobs instantly reveals the pre-mapped parameter on the crisp OLED display and provides real-time visual feedback as you adjust parameters. The screen also shows you the page of parameters you’re on and the name of the tag, instrument or preset as you flick through them.
DAW Control
The Komplete Kontrol A-Series keyboards boast Host Integration, giving you immediate and hands-on control over your digital audio workstation of choice - say goodbye to your mouse and keyboard! Currently supported DAWs include GarageBand, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One and Pro Tools. Native Instruments make preparing your A-Series keyboard to work with your DAW a breeze by providing detailed set-up instructions for each one. When you’re good to go, you can then use the onboard transport controls to record, play/pause, set tempo, quantise notes, undo/redo, loop and more. The 4D encoder can also be used to navigate through your session.
Premium Software Package
In addition to the keyboard itself, Native Instruments also throw in a comprehensive software suite, including a collection of Komplete instruments and effects (such as The Gentleman upright piano, Scarbee Mark 1 electric piano and Monark mono-synth), Komplete Kontrol, Ableton Live 11 Lite, Maschine Essentials (with a 1.6GB Maschine factory selection). With all these tools at your disposal, you can start producing and creating right out of the box.
